2015 Assessment Information Availability Notice

The 2015 Real Estate Initial Assessment Roll will be available approximately January 12, 2015 in the Assessor's Office for review by all real estate property owners in Berkeley County. If you are a property owner and disagree with your real estate property appraisal, please contact our Appraisal Department at 304-267-5072. If you and the appraiser cannot come to an agreement on the value, you have the right to request an appointment with the Berkeley County Council. This process will begin on January 29, 2014 thru February 17, 2014 and is conducted by the Board of Equalization and Review. The board will hear a case on behalf of the taxpayer and rule to either agree with the Assessor's appraisal or lower the appraisal. Property owners should be well prepared with documentation of comparable sales and/or other information. Please remember that property tax books are open for your inspection and any changes in assessment must be made by February 17, 2014. Welcome to the official website for the Berkeley County Assessor's Office. Berkeley County is the second oldest county in the state of West Virginia. Being part of the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan area, it is the fastest growing county in West Virginia and among the fastest growing counties in the United States. Berkeley County comprises approximately 322 square miles and eight (8) tax districts (Arden, Falling Waters, Gerrardstown, Hedgesville, Hedgesville Town, Martinsburg, Mill Creek and Opequon).

Berkeley County Information

The Assessor's office is located in the old Blue Ridge Outlet Dunn Building and employs 32 full-time and part-time employees.

We have recently added a Public Kiosk in the Assessor's office. This public access terminal displays current mapping data, along with appropriate tax year assessment information. Please come in and check it out and provide us with your feedback.
